Super Newbie - Fedora Instalation ?'s

I just "found out" about Linux a few days ago, and Im trying to install Fedora Core 4 onto my laptop as a dual-boot with Windows.

I am trying to download the files currently.

I have an intel centrino chip, so I assume I download from the x86_64 section.

I plan on burning the installation file to a DVD. Is all I need the DVD iso file? "FC4-x86_64-DVD.iso"?

Thanks

first of all welcome to linux!

please check if your system (processor)is 64-bit or 32-bit cause i'm not sure.
in any case you would be safe with the normal 32 bit download because 32 bit software works on both 32 and 64 bit hardware and 64 bit software only works on 64 bit hardware.

after you figure this out, do make sure you burn the image as an .iso file and not as a data cd, you can easily do this with something like nero or others.

enjoy the ride!!!

It sounds like you have a 32 bit processor to me. If that is the case you don't want to download anything with 64 in the title. Nero will burn an iso image to a dvd as long as you have one of the newer versions of the software. You should be able to just open the iso with Nero directly by double clicking on it.
