sun netra 240 cdrom issues
Hi, I am trying to install Linux onto a Sun Netra server. I get all the way to the 'detect cdrom' option and that's where i hit the wall.
I have tried to locate the device, read like a hundred forums and I just can't seem to figure it out. My next step is hooking up a usb cdrom but I thought I would ask here first. thanks! |
Hi, welcome to LQ!
What distro are you installing, and - excuse my ignorance - what type of CD-ROM does a netra have? SCSI, IDE, SATA? Cheers, Tink |
A Netra 240 has an optional IDE DVD reader or recorder.
@ebristow: What is exactly the problem with 'detect cdrom' you have ? |
cdrom
fyi, and sorry, the netra I have is actually a 210, not a 240
The problem occurs after Ubuntu loads, I answer the language question, the country question and then on 'detect and mount cdrom' i get things like -"no common cdrom was found" |
i abandoned the linux installation and went with the debian instead. thanks!

There seems to be some confusion of terms. Debian, too, is Linux. And
if you had told us (as I requested) WHICH DISTRIBUTION you were trying to install - who knows, that may have worked, too. Cheers, Tink |
