Post Summary of basic info

Hi!
Even though I have used Linux, mostly CentOS on our Single OS servers for over a dozen years, I am a total newbie when it comes to dual OS home computers. In the tech support column in the Dear Webby Humor Letter I mostly answer Windows questions and occasionally recommend Linux. Frequently the questions are too specific. Is there a reasonably short summary somewhere, that answers questions like: "Can you read/write from/to the Windows partition while running Linux, for example Mandriva?" (That is a question I was asked today)

Thanks for any help!

You can just use the search fn here at LQ or Google.

The short answer to that specific qn is yes

Basically, you mount the MS partition using correct fs type eg http://www.techonthenet.com/linux/mount.php or http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=217009
