suggest me the best linux distro for my laptop
 

hi everyone..i got a new laptop with 320 gb hdd,2 gb RAM and intel core i3 processor...the manufacturer is lenovo..its pre installed with windows 7 ultimate pack..i'm interested to install a linux distro..so i wanna know which distro suits my laptop configuration.in a best way..my friends,provide me with your suggestions...:)

the only problem with Linux on laptops is if you have very new hardware. It is possible, that the there is no appropriate driver for the wireless NIC or the FN-keys are not supported very well.

I have a Lenovo (Thinkpad x100e) and it is fairly well supported by Linux. Do you know which wireless NIC the laptop has?

Any recent version of a popular distribution will support your laptop. Mostly recommended for newbies who come from Windows are Ubuntu and Mint, people who want to learn more about Linux often use Slackware.

There are several Live-CDs around, so you can check some of the distributions without installing them.

I would personally reccomend that you try Linux Mint, PCLinuxOS or MEPIS. Try searching for those three with whatever search engine you use. There has recently been a new version of the most popular interface, Gnome, that changes the way it works around quite a lot. Ubuntu has done pretty much the same thing. For this reason the KDE or XFCE editions are probably wiser, although just taking the default should work out just fine. You could also go to Distrowatch.com, as was suggested earlier for more choices. Have fun and be sure to give Linux a bit of a chance if it seems too hard at first. You'll come to like it.

Go to their website, download the latest release and install it, simple as that.
