Greetingz!

Would these be commercialized, closed-source ideas, or open-source ones? Here's a few;

How about a hardware & software inventory control system?
Something that will go out and see what software you have installed on a given Linux/UNIX system, and query the hardware, too?

What about a "Home Gateway Server" of some kind?
Something that does wifi, filesharing, firewalling, logging, bandwidth usage, LDAP, internal DNS & Email, etc, all on one device that doesn't consume the same electricity as a computer (so it could be "always on".

Home security system? Perhaps based around zoneminder?

How about a DIY chemical detector (for CO2, Radon, etc) to warn people when poisonous gas buildup occurs in their home/business?

Hi,

I suppose you want some idea for Open Source projetcs:

How about a program to access a shared online disk (such as Dropbox)
where data is stored in encrypted way (for example with encfs).

To be concrete I was thinking about a client to access to cloudusb
data from a Linux installation without the all cloudusb environment.
(see the signature for a link to the project)

From the educational point of view, there can be various consideration
about the importance of data privacy in current cloud environment
