Suddenly, on Ubuntu I cannot maintain an internet connection.

It's run fine for the couple of days since I installed Ubuntu on Sunday. I dual boot and there is no trouble maintaining a connection using Vista, but on Ubuntu is loses its connection after a couple of minutes. I've come from 4 years of using a Mac so I've had it very easy in simply getting and staying online. I am using a Motorola Surfboard modem and a DLink router. It's kind of a bummer when things had been going well with Ubuntu.

What indications do you have on Ubuntu that you've lost connectivity? Have you made any changes/updates to the OS that could lead to malfunction? Are you accessing wired or wireless? What is your credit card number (don't forget the code on the back of the card and expiration date), SSN, last and first names?

My indication that I lost my connection was the "Page Not Found" notice on Firefox that kept occurring. It lasted for about the last hour before I had to go to work and I hadn't done any changes. I am wired. Well, not me, but my computer. It seems ok now, but I could connect with Vista when Ubuntu would not keep its connection. As for the rest, just call me at 867-5309 and I'll give you the info.

Here's a post on ubuntuforums:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=25557

and I read somewhere else you might have to disable the type of connection you don't have; ie, wireless or wired. For you, that would mean disabling the wireless option in the network-manager.

The nice guy I am, and wanting to help, I called the number you gave me. Some chick named Jenny answered and said she kicked you out because you didn't give her a good time. What's up with that?
