Sudden boot failure

I installed RedHat 9.0 on my Windows 2000 machine recently. I used GRUB to load the OS. It was working fine for 3-4 days.

I had to install a wireless adapater for internet for which I had to build a driver to make the card work in Linux. Just after I succeeded to connect to the net through my wireless lan, I rebooted the machine and GRUB failed to load.

There was no error essage nothing.

The BIOS came up, it recognized the memory, identified the primary master and slave (HDD and CDRW) and that was the end of it. nothing happens after that.

I don't think that the configuring of thewireless card had anything to do with it.

Probably something to do with the MBR.

Any thought on why a normally working GRUB will suddenly stop to load?

Thanks,
Krishna

Hm, do you have any other media which your computer could try to boot from and fail/hang? e.g. bootable floppy, cdrom, usb/pcmcia/fw card? Or is your bios set to boot from hd first?

it worked itself out

i took a couple of hours break and started the machine again.. it just worked fine.. what could be the problem? i hope it doesn't occur again.. still, it is rather intriguing!!!

thanks for the info...

Krishna
