su command


I have just installed Mandriva 2006.0. I created an user, logged id ,launched a terminal and tryed to su to root, but it told me the passwaord is inccorect, but it isn't if a try to log in as root it works . WHat could be the problem?

Could be the wrong keyboard layout when you are logged in? Make sure all the @"%~# symbols are correctly displayed.

You may have to be in the wheel group, if it's not listed by the above command this will add you:

gpasswd -a `id -un` wheel

The keyboard is ok.

As for the wheel group, i added the user to that group but now when i run su it just gives me the following output: "su: incorrect password", before i can enter any password.
