Fallback mode? Some terminal thing?

We would like DETAILS. What did you install? Packaged, or compiled? Have you tried removing the package?

Your logs are found by these commands

dmesg |less
less /var/log/Xorg.0.log
less /var/log/messages

messages might be huge, so hit the 'end' key and work backwards. Try and find what's complaining. Don't post half a mile of logs and expect us to read it. You are looking for things that go wrong, missing, not found.

Also, how far do you get in the boot before it starts to act up? What usually happens next?

Thanks for the reply and my apologies I am new to linux. I was trying to install a package (i was trying to mount an ISO file) but then the installation got stuck so i hit cancel. So there's no package to remove. I'd like to post the output of the commands but i dont have access to internet. Is there any way to enable network in fallback mode? Thanks again and merry christmas(sorry for my English)

Were you using Mint's software installation tools?

I do not understand why you were trying to "mount an ISO file" -- can you explain further please.

The more detail you provide, the greater the chance we will be able to help you (but do not post entire logs, as mentioned above).

Your English is fine, BTW

Crashing into fallback mode in Mint Cinnamon is a common problem, usually associated with nvidia drivers. The default Nouveau driver does not have support for 3D acceleration.

If you wish to avoid using the command line at the present time and have a quick solution to your problem, my advice would be to install Linux Mint MATE which should be more suitable for your hardware.

While you sit waiting for an alternative solution, you can be installing Linux MATE.

Burn a new LM MATE disk. The installation does not take long and then your problem will be solved.

LM MATE and LM Cinnamon look very much alike, with only minor differences.

Good luck.
