Strange network activity !!!!!!
Hello guys,
I am using Gkrellm on top of kde. But lately it has been showing strange network activities. the eth0 is transmitting 24 KB all day long despite I have no programs doing any network activities. How can I know which program is doing that transmission? is there any shell command for that? I am running kde 3.2.2 on Debian sarge kernel 2.6.6. thanx in advance. |
You can check your bandwith usage by running "iptraf" which is in console.
I seriously doubt that your sending 24kBYTES/s and not 24kBITS. Check what iptraf says, it's default format is in kbits/s. PS: 24kbits/s = 3kB/s |
you also can type:
lsof -nl |egrep "TCP|UDP" there you get a list of all programs with their socket states |
thanx netmask, that iptraf program is great.
it seems that something went wrong with the gkrellm cuz the interface detailed statistics from iptraf is displayin around 3 kb/s of traffic. thanx once again. |
