strange gui behaviour
 

happy new year everyone!

i am currently running Mandrake 9.0.
Everything is fine but for a strange problem. After switching on this afternoon i discovered that some programs (kppp, licq and kmail and the graphical login screen) are displaying unusually large fonts/boxes (they almost look as though they are running at a different resolution).
Is there an explanation for this, other programs seem to be fine.
Desktop Res: 1280x1024/24bit.

Try to change the default font in Mandrake Control Center. Does it help?

no it hasn't helped

this is not a system wide thing, some apps are as normal, some are big and
oversized, both on the screen together at the same time

Look into program's configuration (for example Kmail does have an option to change fonts for sure). If possible, change it and look if it's better.
