Strange Displayer Information Box

Hi,

I have a dual-boot computer, one is the windows xp another is the ubuntu 8.04 which upgraded from ubuntu 7.10. After I click the grub boot menu item: the most recent ubuntu kernel 2.6.24-21, I got the following image: http://picasaweb.google.com/cholyjoe...06708011160434

The characters in the above image is Chinese's characters that means the Vertical sync frequency exceeds the limit 86Hz (Normal is 55Hz to 75Hz).

I try to use different screen resolution but cannot resolve it. But I find if I use the ubuntu recovery mode or others include windows xp to boot the computer it is OK; The problem seems that has been caused by ubuntu 2.6.24-21 kernel. I need helps or advice to this problem.

Here is my xorg.conf file:

I would suggest making a backup copy of xorg.conf, then reconfiguring:

dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

There have been substantial changes in X between Ubuntu 7.10 and 8.04.

Hi, pinniped,

Thank you for your reply.

I had used dpkg-reconfigure, but the Displayer Information Box always be shown when I reboot the computer.
