straighten out my install

Hello, new linux user here. I've got suse 8.1 installed, more or less! When I look at available hardware in the control center I see 4 cd roms installed and I only have two. One is a plain old 56x cdrom and the other is a buslink 32x12x40 cd rw. Only one of the cd roms listed has a green check mark behind it. Two of the other have little wrenches (need to be configured, I guess) and the other one has a white x in red circle, (something bad, I guess).

Is there someway to straighten this out?

Thanks for any help.

One works and one does not. The plain vanilla cd rom works ok, I guess, I can see the directory of CDs I put in, but the CDRW doesn't work at all.

have a look at this site, even if your not planning on using xcdroast, the first part has good instructions on how to configure your drives. http://seismo.ethz.ch/linux/xcdroast.html
