stop loading modules at startup..please help

Hi all,

I want to stop linux loading the service "sbpcd" and "optcd" at startup...

At the moment I removed the modules manually using "modprobe -r <module>"

How can I remove them otherwise (so that they donīt load on startup?)

PS: Iīm running Debian Sarge kernel: 2.6.6-1

Hi GSX,

Go into /etc/modules.conf and comment out the lines that contain modules you don't want to load on boot.

Thanks,

Harlin

Hi,

thx for your fast reply...

Do you know if itīs also modules.conf when using debian?

Yes it should be unless you've made some very customized changes ;-)

if you use kernel version 2.6 it might also be in modprobe.conf so beware.
