stop loading modules at startup..please help
 

Hi all,

I want to stop linux loading the service "sbpcd" and "optcd" at startup...

At the moment I removed the modules manually using "modprobe -r <module>"


How can I remove them otherwise (so that they don´t load on startup?)

Go into /etc/modules.conf and comment out the lines that contain modules you don't want to load on boot.

Yes it should be unless you've made some very customized changes ;-)

if you use kernel version 2.6 it might also be in modprobe.conf so beware.
