Stop error messages from wireless card from printing on console

While I messed with Unix a few years ago, I am new to Linux at home. How do I stop the authentication error messages (Error 13) from constantly repeating at the console? I can't even edit the network file to fix the issue because the screen is constantly populated with ATH0: Authentication Error (Problem 13).

The error messages come from a 3Com wireless card, so I want to redirect the messages to null so I can use the console, I think. Am I right?

dont direct them to null: you'll over-write it
direct them instead to a text file, then just delete it. you *may* need the logs later down the line

Ok, I tried the redirect and these messages still keep coming up, about one per second. They even come when I am logged off. As soon as the network starts, these messages begin:

ATH0: Authentication Error (Reason 13) MAC address
ATH0: Authentication Error (Reason 13) MAC address
ATH0: Authentication Error (Reason 13) MAC address
ATH0: Authentication Error (Reason 13) MAC address
ATH0: Authentication Error (Reason 13) MAC address

Like that. I can't start X to get another terminal because the path is wrong and I can't edit the startx script because these messages overwrite the editor on the screen. I switched to another console and they are still there.

I tried turning echo off, that didn't work. The messages seem to come from outer space or something. How do I turn them off temporarily to edit the files that will fix the problem?

Is there another boot mode that I can select to start without network support? I can't edit any files so changing init files is not realistic.
