Look around your menus, I believe that the Acer has Synaptic Package Manager. If it has, then it's as easy as checking a box.
If you run into problems, read http://macles.blogspot.com/2008/08/d...spire-one.html

MFA,
Welcome to LinuxQuestions.
As Jay73 mentioned, Synaptic package manager is included with the Linpus operating system.
Open Synaptic, type banshee in the "Search" box and press Enter.
Tick the box to the left of banshee.
Click on Mark for installation.
Click on Mark All Upgrades (some extra packages may be needed in addition to the one you have selected).
Click on Apply.
Click on Apply.
banshee will be downloaded and installed.

Look in "Settings", it should be listed as "Pkg Manager".

Numbers 3 and 4 in here should help you:
http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2008/09...pire_one_tips/
The PM may be called pirut.
EDIT
As an alternative to Linpus you could install another Linux OS such as Mint or Ubuntu 8.10 or whatever. Do a Google search or a search of this forum to get user feedback for the Acer Aspire One. There are several specialist forums devoted to the AA1.
Try this one for starters:
