startx Willl not get passed 640x480 display on CFM34

Hello everyone, I am running into a problem that I cant seem to fix myself, Ive tried Googling’ for the answer with no luck. So that why I turned to you guys. I am quite new to Linux. So help me out please help a dude out. I am using BackTrack 3 Final, which to my understanding is Slax. I have a CFM34 model CF-M34RTFZQM running a P3 Proc 800 hz, 512 MB RAM on a small 20Gig HDD. This back Track Distro runs smooth and slick on this little toughbook, but I cant get passed the 640x480 resolution. When I try to change the display settings I only have the option of 640x480 at 60hz. This is my xorg.conf...

If it has a transreflective screen, that particular model only supports a maximum resolution of 640x480.

Leniux:

You'd need to configure xorg properly. But if you are not comfortable there is an automated configure run under slax if your distro is indeed slackware. Try this command on terminal, better you run this as root, but you can always use sudo or whatever is in your system:

leniux@host-$: sudo xorgsetup

then follow the dialog boxes, mostly you'd need only choose the <Yes> or positive answers. In most slackware this does for the work. If this can't solve your problem you will need to configure xorg correctly. Also try command xorgconfig, but this is very technical, however better than manual configuration.

Hope this helps.

Good luck.

Hey champ, Thanks, But its my fault for not letting you guys know what I have done. I have already ran xorgsetup under root. then placed "Modes" at "800x600" set it at 16 bit color with no dice. Also the monitor is an Ultra bright monitor.
