StartX Problem!!


I'm getting this error!!!
does anyone knows why!??

sounds like a screen res couldnt be found that fits your monitor.

why dont you use a cut down bare bones XF86Config file?

you can either edit your /etc/X11/XF86Config file or try just reconfiguring it with xf86config command... or if your running any other distro like Redhat, you can use Xconfigurator, Sax for Suse, and so on.. What distro are you using ?

my monitor is a
Compaq v410e

anyones knows how to configure this!??

btw, when i try to install the video card drivers
it auto prbes my card and it says that i have
some other card instead of my PNY NVidia GeForce3 DDR 64
what should i choose!???

i think in redhat you use the Xconfigurator, right ?
try use Xconfigurator --noauto --expert it shouldn't
autoprobe anymore (at least i think as i alway use
XFdrake for mandrake) Xconfigurator and XFdrake
are much the same and autoprobing flaws from time to
time
Choose any of the nvidia/ geforce, this will put the
NV driver in your XF86config-4 file
I suppose you want Open GL to work with your card?
if so let me know. First get this working properly
