startx issue

Hi all

I use ASUS motherboard and have Redhat linux (WS Taroon) installed.
When i try and run startx I get an "out of band frequency error".
Please advice.

san802k, I have moved your post from the thread you have posted it to and moved to a separate one.

The error you get appears when the settings are too high (or have too close range) that the system can't find a resonable resolution and refresh rate. Look into your /etc/X11/XFree86Config-4 (or similar file in /etc/X.org/) and please show us what you have in the lines beginning with HorizSync and VertRefresh (in Section "Monitor").

Thank you so much for the reply. I shall try out the same and let you know soon.

meanwhile I also have another issue My linux OS is unable to detect the 2 ethernet cards installed.However the windows XP that i have installed in the same box seems to detect the cards without my having to install it.

Without any information on which network cards these are (or which chips they use) you probably won't get many useful answer. I suggest you post some info about this
