Startx Error - Fresh Gentoo 2006.1 install
Just got finished emerging kdebase-startkde and kicker, when i went to startx i got this error:
patriot ~ # startx
xauth: creating new authority file /root/.serverauth.25897
xinit: No such file or directory (errno 2): no server "X" in PATH
Use the -- option, or make sure that /usr/bin is in your path and
that "X" is a program or a link to the right type of server
for your display. Possible server names include:
Xorg X.Org displays
xinit: Server error.

Nt having much luck getting the gui up. Can anyone point me in the right direction :-)
fairly new to Gentoo , so be gentle...lol
Do you have your .xinitrc?
You must first edit .xinitrc file in your home directory or the system wide file (not recommended).
You will have to add the line
exec "startkde"; // or whatever the kde-start command is.
xinitrc is in /etc/X11/xinitrc/
