Angry Startx desktop thing only show half of the screen


The display screen for the desktop environment thing is only showing a half of the screen thats suppose to show. I have tried everything i could but couldn't find a solution can anybody help?


note: I am running slackware version 9.1 and all of the desktop things like gnome, kde, blackbox show only half of the screen.

This may be a problem with the way that you have the monitor configured in /etc/XF86Config.

if you type this before you you startx " X -configure " it should write you out a working config
called XF86Config.new in /root dir it should! work it will give you a line to write that will test it if it works copy it over to /etc/X11/XF86Config. if it doesnt work you cant edit the screen properties in XF86Config manually or alternatively my slackware live cd confures X really well and i have copied /etc/X11/xf86Config to my hardrive to overwrite the other one and it has worked seamlessly ever time.
