startup programs via a user

hi,

i'm just wondering if anyone knows any links for information on how to create a startup type script for a user account.

something like...

i reboot my redhat 7.3 linux machine
i have a ventrilo (like roger wilco) server on one of my user accounts... "user1"
so when the machine reboots..
i'd like it to...
start a screen session
go to the directory
and ./start_ventrilo
and close the screen session...

is this possible? sounds kinda like a macro lol
cause that's what i do manually right now :P

thanks

Screen can take a command when it starts, so that's how you could start Ventrilo. When the system is up use a at/cron script to execute the commands (if possible) or have root su to the user after boot and execute the command (bad).

www.ventrilo.com
it has the updated linux files

i just untarred... and put in a folder somewhere (i put it under a /home/user so i can run it under a user) and then its ./ventrilo_srv to run

make sure you edit the ventrilo_srv.ini to your liking
i just changed a few things in it...
like the welcome msg and the
Intf1=192.168.0.31
to the ip address my network card is bound to... (public...not internal..for me)
