now that 1 have linux installed im using redhat linux 7.0 i installed everthing when i login its at the command prompt username/password then i have to type startx to get a gui the only 1 i get is gnome how do i swith between different gui's??
Look in .xinitc. In there will be a line that reads something like
exec /wherever/gnome
Comment that line out and insert whatever window manager or desktop environment you have installed. If you want to log in from a GUI, look into gdm or kdm. There is plenty of information regarding this floating around LinuxQuestions.
I'm not sure if it's in RH 7, but in RH 7.2 and later there is an option in one of the menus to switch the default GUI.
Also, you may not have KDE installed, did you install it when you installed RH?
