Start Xubuntu with runlevel 1

Hey!
I mess up configuration of my /etc/X11/default-windows-manager or something like that. I wanna change there xfce to i3 window manager. But now when i start the system it automatically boots to this runlevel where it starts window manager. Then it gets stack at infinite loop and try to load up the window manager for ever... Can i avoid it at boot stage to start system at runlevel 1 or 2 so i can change this file back to normal?

Thank you for your help! 513ry

You can just do a temp using the "e" edit button on grub
splash screen test and use the suggested "f" key to boot your changes to see if it works first.

add a 1 or 2 to the end of <I use a 3 when in your shoes>

to the line that is shown you.
