Question start WNIC

Trying to set up iwScanner for school project. Book said type startx, open Konsole shell and type widc and enter. Click KDE start button, point to system and click iwScanner. OK no iwScanner listed. This system is hard wired, but tried on wireless comp. and same thing. Someone said try startKDE, but no results. I saw something on Youtube, but the dude was going 100mph and I couldnt follow. Is there a simple answer to this?

There's your answer. Try typing "wicd" and maybe it will work better. BTW, you'll probably have to do that as root or use sudo.
