Start over with new distro due to problems.

I installed Debian Lenny on my inherited ibook g3. Had display problems that I attempted to fix for a week with no success. I don't have the $ to take it to someone to put another distro on for me so I was wondering, on startup I've tried to hold "c" and have it boot my LXDE Linux mint for PPC on the bootstrap prompt and the screen will flash once and go back to that prompt, I hit c again and it says loading cd rom and you hear the drive spin and then after a while...nothing. I have discs for Mint, Ubuntu, and Fedora and have tried all three this way. I know how to get into OpenFirmware but have not been able to boot from there either. What are the commands? Please help.

For a IMAC G3 Debian below Link may be of some help for you. Good Luck and Happy Trails, Rok.

Is the 'puter set to check the CD/DVD drive first upon boot-up, rather than the hard drive? Sounds like it is not. I'd get into BIOS and check and make sure that it's configured to check the CD drive first.

Mac doesn't have a bios. (I don't own one though)

2.2 Booting the installation

Unlike PC, Macintosh computers do not have a BIOS, so in order to have it to boot from the Cd, you will need to keep the key c pressed during the boot
(it seems to be right after / during the power-on sound).

D'oh! I forgot that the OP said iBook G3! (And I did not know that Macs don't have BIOS...hehe - oh...and I was so proud that I was actually helping someone on a computer forum..... I'd better pay closer attention and just stick to asking questions :D )
