ssh without pass phrase.


Hello people,


Is it complete unsafe to have a ssh key with out pass phrase ?

No, it's just a question of how well you are securing your private key file by other means.

As in making it not readable by any user then root?

Yes, for example. You should just be aware of the fact that anybody who gets his hands on the private key is "in". If you can guarantee this doesn't ever happen it is safe.

May be using expect would be a better option?

Can we tell a host just accept connection from one host in that key??
