ssh will not connect

Hi All,

I have 2 linux servers running on my LAN at home. I can connect to one externally, and to get to the other, I use ssh (on the recommendation of someone here) and it wroked really well.

I haven't done it in a while, and I went to do this last night, and received the following:

Connection to 192.168.150.251 closed by remote host.
Connection to 192.168.150.251 closed.

If I use an incorrect password, I get permission denied, so I know the password is correct. I have tried various users on each end to no avail...

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Robin.

And is this after you apparently login that it closes the connection? Have you tried restarting the ssh daemon?

When I do a ps -ef | grep ssh on the machine I telnet to, I get the followng:

root 5218 1 0 Jun29 ? 00:00:03 /usr/sbin/sshd
applmgr 2130 2105 0 Jul02 ? 00:00:06 /usr/bin/ssh-agent /etc/X11/xini
t/Xclients
root 16062 5218 0 08:03 ? 00:00:00 sshd: applmgr [priv]
applmgr 16074 16062 0 08:03 ? 00:00:00 sshd: applmgr@pts/2
root 23923 5218 0 09:23 ? 00:00:00 sshd: applmgr [priv]
applmgr 23928 23923 0 09:24 ? 00:00:00 sshd: applmgr@pts/3
applmgr 23966 23929 0 09:24 pts/3 00:00:00 grep ssh

Which means I thnk it is up on that machine. Unfortunately, I am in Wisconsin, and the client machines are in NJ, so I can't check the other!

Thanks,
Robin.
