ssh IP address problem

I am having problems with a ssh server on my RH9 machine. I have the linux box connected to my router, which is connected to both a Windows computer and my sattilite internet modem. To log into ssh from outside my network, you need an IP address. When I use the ip addr command, I get a bunch of info about the loopback address then some ethernet information. The ethernet information seems to only include my network IP number (192.168.0.101) and this will work fine for sshing from my other computer, but not from outside the network. How can I find the IP of my RH9 machine that will allow me to connect from other locations outside the network?

As you can probably tell, this is my first foray into server administration.

You may want to traceroute something that's not
in your net ... chances are you'll find your external
IP in the list :}

[edit]
Alternatively, your router is likely to have
a service port or something like that you
should be able to access, and you should
also be able to find your IP address there ...

Then you'll need to set-up the router to pass
requests on port 22 on to the rh box

Cheers,
Tink

I tried the traceroute thing, and the signal jumped to my router and then all of the following steps were nothing but an number then ****. One of my co-workers has an FTP server and I tried to connect to it and the connction failed. I haven't done any online work on the RH9 box before, so I am wondering if maybe my internet isn't configured incorrectly. Do you have any idea how I could do that? I have the "Red Hat Linux Server Adminstration Handbook" and it says I need to get an IP from my ISP's DNS server. Is that true and, if so, how?

Probably but not necessarily. My ISP uses a transparent proxy and showip.com gives the address of that proxy and not my static IP address.
