ssh help

i want to connect to my mandrake 9.2 server via ssh, but when i try to connect on my mandrake 9.2 laptop from my house i get this:

Code:
[jordan@localhost jordan]$ ssh root@204.48.146.118
ssh_exchange_identification: Connection closed by remote host
[jordan@localhost jordan]$ ssh jordan@204.48.146.118
ssh_exchange_identification: Connection closed by remote host
[jordan@localhost jordan]$
as u see, i tried to log on as root and as my user.

the server is not behind a firewall.

anyn ideas?

Is ssh running?
netstat -nlp

Do you have any local firewall rules in place?
iptables -L

Try setting the security level to "High" or below in Mandrake Control Center

so IRT #2, yes ssh is running. and there is no firewall (software or otherwise)

and IRT #3, i will try putting the security to high.....i assume there is no way to do that remotely cuz ssh isnt working, so i will try that next time i get physical access to the machine
