SSA drives

I have an RS/6000 with 48 SSA drives that need to be wiped. we have no way to power on the server. i would like to know if there is any way to hook up the drives to another machine? i tried putting the SSA adapter cards into a workstation and hooking the drives up just as in the server, but the card bios states: "no devices attached." if anyone has any ideas on how to wipe these drives it would be greatly appreciated.

might help. this is the linux questions AIX forum. it might be a good idea to ask there seeing as its more of a IBM related problem.
