squirrel mail
Hello,
i have sendmail and squirrel mail running on my server ... every thing is running fine ... i receive mail on my server no problem there ... except when i send out mail ... i get this message
Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable
Server replied: 550 5.7.1 <x@anymail.com>... Relaying denied. IP name lookup failed [XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX]
<x@anymail.com> = my valid email on another isp server.
XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX = my server public ip address.
any suggestions...
Thanks

Outside of squirrelmail can you send email using just sendmail (such as with the mail command, or something like kmail, sylpheed, mutt, evolution, or any other mail client)? Are you having any other network problems? Can you post up your sendmail.cf (I believe that's what it is, I use postfix and love it ) so we can see if it's a configuration problem? Are you using an IMAP server? Which one? What distro? How did you install these things? Are you running your own DNS server?
Cool

Have you tried with other email addresses as well? Do you have a domain name? Could it be possible that the server you are sending to is rejecting because of a reverse lookup problem?

Have you added any relay domains to your relay-domains file in /etc/mail ?
Also what do you have as your domain in the sendmail.cf file?
And if you can post the output of your /etc/hosts file that might help as well.

Also, you can setup squirrel mail to use a regular smtp as well, like your ISP's for example instead of your own server, etc. Just a thought if all else fails.
