squid proxy


Hi

I have centos5.3 with squid configured on that , i also configured one windows pc with datacard (internet),
if isp provided to my centos server is fail, then i want squid installed on centos ditribute internet but via this windows internet pc how it is possible

You might want to script that functionality - last I used squid - it didnt have a failover functionality. All you need is to change configured gateway in centos to windows pc.

Moreover - you also will want to install some proxy server on this Windows pc.

Next - Datacard - I do not think its a bright idea to use datacard for failover.
Datacard has compelling limitations which may become obvious sooner then later.

Thanks for reply, i see the cache_peer in squid but cant understand exact function of this option

I may take me time to go through squid manual - skimming through fail-over options and enable cache peer when internet goes down.

I would have loved to do it via script/you can always do a google and find a loads of script to do exactly that.

But before we dive in to that - you might want to read squid manual in case of fail-over - have a feeling Squid might have improved a ton from the days I used it.

On the other hand you could also wait for other opinions/linux experts to guide you through.
