Squid failover

I have two linux boxes placed at two different locations. These two locations are catered with two different Internet service provider. Ideally when internet links at both sites are up the proxy should use the respective internet circuits. If link at one location goes down the squid should failover through other location squid box. I have tried multiple options like cache-peer, dns-alias etc. but none of these sounds concrete.
Could anyone suggests me the solution for squid failover?
I am using Fedora 9 with squid-3.0 version.

Thanks beforehand.

Regards
AnaPan

why not push it back to the browsers and use a proxy.pac / wpad file to just prefer their local proxy? much more resilient.
