Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

Hi, I know this has *probabbly* been asked before but....
- I have Fedora core 1 (Unsure of my kernal - but it came straght out of the box - i *could* get it if its *really* needed)
- I have an Alcatel adsl modem (330) rev4 (the silver 1)
i have looked for at least a week and a half trying all these different tutorials and such and i think the driver is installed right as i get this as when u do the usb finder command thing it comes up!
but - this is what happens......
#pppd call adsl updetach
Sent [LCP confreq id=0x1 <asyncmap 0x0> <magic 0x11e638f3>]
over and over (the number at the end changes each time it makes a different connection attempt) untill it times out - my maxconfigue statment is on 900 as i needed 2 make sure i was giving it enough time.
in regards to your other question i did run a speedbundle package but I did not do it how that page says - also it looks like the speedtouchconf looks better doesnt it - however now i have tried to install the other one - i will need to reverse what i have done right?
its ok - it works now - lol - i did the speedtouchconf thing you sent me - and hey presto! it even overwrote what i had already done - i am actually typing this from LINUX - thank you very much for your help
