quite lucky man!!! that u r getting drivers for your USB ADSL modem.
for last 3 days i'm working hard to get drivers for my USB ADSL modem........but not being able to configure it.
ok, thats a different story...

so in your case, SuSE being rpm based, download the rpm drivers from the site told to u by spoon ( i haven't seen the site yet )
if you don't get them there then try google.

if it wouldn't have been USB ADSL then there would not be any need to load drivers for it........and thats a better option to have modem with ethernet support.

anyways! get the drivers, install them

regards

speedToch modem

Hi I am having trouble configuring the modem or Linux?
I followed the steps in the http://www.linux-usb.org/SpeedTouch/suse/ link you gave me, if you could answer some questions I think I am almost there?

1, when Linux asks replace KQD6_3.012 do I put Y=yes N=No A=All R=replace?, as I have Rev=4.00

2) do I select Modem or DSL in Yast when configuring the modem
3) do I choose Tone or Pulse dial
4)I will paste what I put into Kate, Serets Chap and PAP, can you tell me if its correct please, or if there are any bits missing?

:

# Secrets for authentication using CHAP
# client server secret IP addresses

# OUTBOUND CONNECTIONS
# Here you should add your PPP Login and PPP password to connect to your
# provider via pap. The * means that the entry(login and passoword may be
# used for ANY host you connect to.
# Thus you do not have to worry about the foreign machine name. Just
# replace password with your password.
# aaria5@tiscali.co.uk * password

# PREDIFINED CONNECTIONS
# These are user and password entries for publically accessible call-by-call
# Internet providers in Germany. If they confict with your config, remove them.
# READ_IN_CALLBYCALL_SECRETS

# INBOUND CONNECTIONS
#client aaria5@tiscali.co.uk <password> password 192.168.1.1

and PAP

#root hostname aaria5@tiscali.co.uk "*" password
#support hostname aaria5@tiscali.co.uk "*" password

I know this is all straight forward to you guys but I have been at it for 3 days now, thanks, Adrian
