This works for me http://www.mail-archive.com/speedtou.../msg05299.html
with the speedtouchconf package http://speedtouchconf.sourceforge.net/
make sure you don't enable the kernel module when you compile the kernel. It is possible with the speedtouch 330 to open up the source for the driver. It uses the speedtouch-1.2 driver. Go into the src folder, find the pppoa3.c file, open it in a text editor and change the line
Code:
static int alternate_ep = -1; /* historically wasn't set */
and delete the - sign. Compile it and change the pppoa3 binary for the one in /usr/local/sbin or wherever it is on your system and it should work. I find it doesn't work as well as altering the kernel source as it the system sometimes hangs during shutdown. But try all the options and see what works for you. I've made quite a study of the speedtouch thing as we have two computers, mine has the original green modem which works with the speedtouch-1.1 driver. That version doesn't have that line so I don't have the option, I have to alter the kernel to get it working. But the family computer upstairs has the 330 like you so there I've had the opportunity to fiddle a bit. One other thing, with the 330, when I was getting it set up I just drag and dropped the alcaudsl.sys binary from the windows partition. It worked, but slowly. I was getting an error message which meant it was dropping a lot of packets. So I tried it with the binary which came with the old green one and straight away it was back to full speed.
