Question Kill thE Sound

Hi there,

i cannot stop de OSS sound driver

I type : Soundoff then they said

cmpci: Device or resource busy
uart401: Device or resource busy
opl3: Device or resource busy
pnp: Device or resource busy
soundbase: Device or resource busy
sndshield: Device or resource busy

If i try soundon,
OSS driver (sndshield) is already loaded
Use soundoff to unload it and try again.

does linux have a safe mode (with no sound drivers loaded)?????

Get out of X and try that again, to get out of X completely:
Type: CTRL ALT F2
And login as root. Then type:
telinit 3
Log back in as root, then use:
soundoff

If that doesn't work, type:
lsmod
Locate the modules relating to sound and rmmod them one at a time since they have dependencies too:
rmmod soundcore
and so on.

Cool
