SoundCards!

Hey! Thanks for reading my post.

O/S RedHat 7.2
XWindow: KDE

I inserted a card (ensoniq vivo) and linux detected it but no sound came out... i later found out, that particular model i have is not supported by linux. A teacher a school gave me a soundblaster card (model#: CT2800), i almost positive its a soundblaster 16 card. inserted that one and when it boots it gives a message about the sound card, being that the wrong sound card is in for the settings it has and a"FAILED" it checks for new hardware but does not detect it. i manually go in and check for new hardware and the soundcard does not come up. so how can i either remove all the information of the old card and/or install this one? ITS A SOUNDBLASTER?! shouldn't it work?? thanks,
rock on,
dan

Could you post the output of lsmod? It has to be run as root.

ok

sure as soon as i get back home!
i found a new command, sndconfig, tho!
although some how i deleted the files its looking for when configuring the PnP card... from what i understand Linux doesn't support PnP cards? and it needs to be configured first? well im gonna re-install redhat 7.2 to get those files back. i believe this sndconfig will help. lsmod? yea, ill do that. wonder what it is... ill find out!! but ill post my results.
thanks,
dan
