Soundcard detection

Hello,
I'm running FC2 and KDE 3.2. When I log in KDE, there is no sound. If I try to watch an mpg for instance, I see the image but no sound. However, when I run "Soundcard Detection" it detects my SiS soundcard. I play the test sound correctly! After the soundcard detection, the sound is working and I can watch that same mpg with image and sound. Looks like my soundcard is not automatically detected. Any idea?

Thanks,
David.

try alsamixer and look at the volumes in the channels... then run alsactl store... when you restart your comp and you don't have sound, just run alsactl restore
