sound volumes on boot up

I have a sound blaster 16 card with KDE 3.0 and suse 8.1, on boot up the volumes of the sound card are all reset to zero, is there any way I can stop this happening. Currently I just reset the volumes in YAST2 after booup.
Thanks

Since I don't know what tools Suse
ships I'd recommend doing a
man -k mixer ;)

If it comes up with any that say command-line
do a man <that_mixer> and add it to your
startup-script with volume parameters set.

Cheers,
Tink

It has been over a year since I last had a
SuSE 7.0 installation under my paws ...

Try a
locate rc.local
and if it finds one, try putting
that mixer command at its end
with your favourite editor.

If it doesn't, try asking for the
name of SuSE's local startup-script
in the Linux-Distro forum.

Cheers,
Tink
