Sound problems in KDE 4 (again)

When I upgraded to Mandriva 2009 with KDE4, I noticed after a short time that there was no sound, which was odd since everything was being detected with no problems. After reading on some forums, I found that I was not the only one with this issue and that by disabling pulse audio it could be resolved. I disabled it, and the sound worked. Now all of the sudden it isn't working. So I checked the pulse audio settings and it is disabled. However, the system did install some updates this morning, and I think that maybe these screwed up my sound settings again. So I guess the question is, is there a log file somewhere that will tell me what updates were installed, and if so, how can I roll them back?
