I have installed fedora 16. But no sound when playing mp3 files
pl help

Run alsamixer from command line and see whether you can enable sound from there.

you most probably dont have necessary plugins installed to play mp3 files. For that you need to add RPMfusion repos and download the plugins from there. This may look daunting if you are new in Linux. This post tells exactly what you need to do
