Sound problem
 
I just installed Ubuntu 9.04 Desktop, but i just cant figure out how to get my soundcard working.

This is the error i get when i try to play test sound.

audiotestsrc wave=sine freq=512 ! audioconvert ! audioresample ! gconfaudiosink: Could not open audio device for playback.

It looks to me that this is a comon problem, but after reading several forums, i havent come closer to solving my problem.

Hi,

Welcome to LQ!

I don't use the *buntus but you should be able to run 'alsaconf' from the cli as root. Once you have the sound card configured then use the 'alsamixer' to setup the sound device. You then use the 'alsactl store' to save the configuration.
