Sound problem

Hello!
I get no sound after installing Linux OS. I have tried the tips from different sites but to no help. The sound works on the Windows OS but not on the Linux OS What should i do? Thanks in advance. The error message is:

"The volume control did not find any elements and/or devices to control. This means either that you don't have the right GStreamer plugins installed, or that you don't have a sound card configured.

You can remove the volume control from the panel by right-clicking the speaker icon on the panel and selecting "Remove From Panel" from the menu."

Welcome to LQ. Looks like you may have an unsupported soundcard - we need to know what it is.
Open a terminal and enter

lspci

there should be a reference to a soundcard there, copy just that line over to your reply.

There are many Linux's - please let us know which one you are using - that way you're more likely to get replies fitted to your actual situation.

Sure enough - you don't have a soundcard at all. Sound is handled through that fancy video card methinks...
See: http://www.linuxquestions.org/hcl/sh...349/cat/myprod

... which means that you need special configuration to get it going.
Do you plug the speakers into the agp card?

Is your AGP video card integral to the mobo or a plug-in?
Please follow the link - is that your video card?

Your easiest approach to get sound is to buy a cheap pci card for it.
