sound on mic line- fedora core 2

hi,
I installed fedora core 2 yesterday. i managed to get mp3īs working with xmms
but when I updated to the newest kernel I only hear sound from my mic-in plug
and the normal speakers donīt work no more.
if this would be a normal pc it wonīt matter, but itīs a laptop with (of course)
built in speakers which i would like to use.
and the sound isnīt good over the mic-line...
is there a way i can tell linux to play the sound over the normal speakers
again?

thanx

sascha

(oh thereīs another thing, too
i have a sony pcg-fr215m laptop, and fedora canīt recognize the lcd display,
so when i do anything in fullscreen, itīs completely blurred.
is this a problem with the display or with my ati radeon 9200 (i think)?
and how can i fix it?)

Hi flaminmoe, welcome to lq. Have you tried any mixers since your update? That's where you should probably start. Could you post the output from
/sbin/lspci -v, and /sbin/lsmod?
good luck.

....thx,

It looks like the modules are loaded, try alsamixer and see if your sound is adjustable from there. You may need to play with those channels to get it right.
good luck.

flaminmoe 01-25-2005 11:41 AM

nope

thanx for the fast answer, but it doesnīt help me.
i cannot switch the channels in the alsa mixer (nor in the oss)
i can adjust the loudness of the output over my mic-in channel, but
this wonīt work with my built-in speakers.

do you have another solution?

Peacedog 01-25-2005 04:52 PM

What channels do you have available from alsamixer?
good luck.

flaminmoe 01-28-2005 02:07 PM

channels

master, master mono, headphone, pcm, line, cd, mic, phone, aux, capture
nearly the same for oss

but i played around with that tool a loot, but you canīt switch channels there

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. Have you tried any other mixers?
good luck.
