Unhappy Sound notifications stop after some time.

Seems like my sound notifications(ex start up and log out sounds) just stop working after a few hours. If I restart my PC it begins to work but die down again after a few hours. I get sound when I play videos and on websites so I can't figure out where the problem is.

There was a bug in Knotify that seems similar to your issue. Could you post the contents of your .kde/share/config/knotifyrc (taken when notifications are not working)

Nope, sorry, this seems in order. You can restart Knotify with 'kdeinit knotify' - that should get notifications working again. It's not really a solution , I know - the only other thing I can think of you could try is make the above file read-only ('chmod 400') when notifications are working.

Thanks for helping. I rebooted and change the file to read only. Hopefully that will help or someone else might know what is going on.

I'm happy to hear that

It looks like an old Knotify bug where during session Knotify convinces itself that there is no aRts support (I can't remember why it happens) and modifies the value in .kde/share/config/knotifyrc Arts Init=false. Making the file read-only prevents Knotify from modifying it and (hopefully) fixes things.
