sound not working on fedora core 2... total linuxian newbie here...

Hey everyone... I'm a total newbie to this forum and to linux... so w00t w00t, lol.

Well here it goes...

Ok, so as posted in the title I obviously have a sound problem... I discovered this after installing flash player for linux... It is kind of weird though, that this is happening, because when installing I tested the sound card... and it worked... that guitar or whatever it was, played fine... Now though nothing... It's also strange because after messing with the volume controls for a bit and setting everything up to the max and also turning the speakers up I CAN hear the speakers staticy sound... and if I lower the volume the static lowers with it, if highers, it highers along with it...

I tried playing a test sound... but what came of that was pretty... ehh... well the sound testing software just stopped responding... I also believe when I clicked on the test button it brought my speakers volume down or something because the static sound, I guess, lowered...

I need some sound!!!! lol please!!!! HELP ME OUT!

Thanks in advance!

:newbie: :Pengy: :cry: :scratch: :confused:

Have you checked the log files? Any error messages during startup?

pc tweakz 08-04-2004 02:31 AM

nope I don't think so... but where can I check the logs? I checked under system tools > system log... but what should I look under? I didn't see anything related to sound though.... sorry about my complete newbiness, lol but is that what you wanted me to check? around there?

::edit::

lol oops check startup logs... checking I'll post back in a sec...
