I checked every setting on the mixer and played around with the two jacks.
Maybe my speakers need more power, the old combo audio-modem had a pci card with "Phone" jack and the telephone jacks; and then, another pci card that is much smaller and connected by a ribbon to the other that had very similiar jacks like the big one I got off e-bay. It has two jacks that are normal one has a picture up and another picture down and that serial thing. I never ever used those on my old card, I just had my speakers plugged into the special "phone" jack and plugged my headphones through the third subwoofer thing I mentioned earlier. Everythings special on this machine becuase it's Hewlette-Packard.
But the fact that this sound card is not compatible with my XP is surprising. My auto-windows update may have taken care of that, I still have yet to boot into XP, not that I have any real motivation to yet far except to check my sound card out. I'll report back on that, too.
