Question sound configuration under X

I've got PLD 1.0 (Polish linux distribution- similar to redhat I think) and SBlive!. I installed emu10k1 and the mp3 files work great from console. But, when I start X-manager (KDE) it doesn't seem to recognize my sound device. And while I use xmms it says no sound device. I think there can be problem with configuring soundcard only under x manager but I don't know how cause I am and not so great any good advice??? I read many howtos but haven't found anything about this issue.
